PANADOL Rapid Caplets MO mg Paracetamol

1. What Panadol Rapid is and what is it used for. 
PANADOL Rapid caplets are used for the fast effective temporary relief of pain and discomfort associated with: headache, muscular aches, period pain, toothache, migraine headache, colds & flu and tension headache. The active ingredient is paracetamol which works to stop the pain messages from getting through to the brain and also reduces fever. Always use the lowest effective dose to relieve symptoms for the shortest period of time necessary.

2. Check before you take Panadol Rapid. 
Do not take PANADOL Rapid caplets:
- If you have had an allergic reaction to paracetamol or any of the ingredients in this product. 
- If you are taking other medicines containing paracetamol.
- If you are under 12 years.
Ask your doctor before you take this medicine if you:
- Have liver or kidney problems, including alcoholic liver disease, are underweight or malnourished or regularly drink alcohol. You have a severe infection as this may increase the risk of metabolic acidosis. Signs of metabolic acidosis include: deep, rapid, difficult breathing; feeling sick (nausea) or being sick (vomiting); loss of appetite. Please see your doctor if your symptoms do not improve. Keep out of sight and reach of children.
If you are taking other medicines
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking these caplets if you are taking other medicines, particularly metoclopramide (for nausea [feeling sick] or vomiting [being sick]; cholestyramine (to lower cholesterol). If you take blood thinning medicines (anticoagulants e.g. warfarin) and you need to take a pain reliever regularly, talk to your doctor because of the risk of bleeding.

Pregnancy & breastfeeding
Talk to your doctor before taking PANADOL Rapid caplets if you are pregnant. You can take this product while breastfeeding.

Important information about some of the ingredients
Two PANADOL Rapid caplets contain 352 mg sodium. If you are on a low sodium diet, ask your doctor about using this medicine before you take it.


3. Side Effects
Like all medicines, PANADOL Rapid caplets can have side effects, but not everybody gets them. Stop taking this medicine and tell your doctor immediately if you experience:
- Shortness of breath
- Wheezing or difficulty breathing
- Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, throat or other parts of the body
- Rash, peeling, itching or hives on the skin or mouth ulcers
- Unexplained bruising or bleeding
These side effects are very rare for low doses of this medicine and when used for a short period of time. If any of the previous side effects happen, tell your pharmacist or doctor immediately or go to Accident and Emergency at your nearest hospital. Tell your pharmacist or doctor if you notice anything that is making you feel unwell.

Other side effects not listed above may also occur in some people.

4. Further Information 
PANADOL Rapid caplets contain 500 mg of paracetamol as the active ingredient. They also contain: sodium bicarbonate, cellulose - microcrystalline, starch - pregelatinised maize, sodium starch glycolate, starch - maize, water - purified, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, colloidal anhydrous silica, povidone, titanium dioxide, polydextrose, glycerol triacetate, carnauba wax and macrogol 8000.

PANADOL Rapid caplets are a white to off-white capsule shaped film coated tablets with flat edges. Tablets debossed with "P" on one side and "--" on the other side. They come in blister packs of 20, 40 & 80 caplets and a 'Handipak' of 10 caplets.
